Electronic Billing Recipients and Notifications
Electronic bills (e-bills) are the official means of distributing student account billing statements. These billing statements are emailed to students at their Reed email address and additionally any other party the student has provided an email address for in the . Students may list up to two additional recipients to receive an e-bill from Reed.
Semester and monthly student account e-bill notifications will come from “billing@reed.edu” (an unmonitored and no-reply email). To ensure these important notices are received, recipients must add this “billing@reed.edu” address to the safe senders list of their email.
For questions regarding billing statements or other questions pertaining to the student account, please email business-office@reed.edu.
Billing Dates and Deadlines
Tuition and fees are assessed twice a year and billed via email in early-July for fall semester and the beginning of December for spring semester, with specified due dates. The amount due can fluctuate based on timing of completed tasks that the student may need to do, for instance accepting their financial aid award. Student account center shows the student account balance in real time so it is a great tool to monitor changes as they occur.
Tuition, fees, room, and board (less approved/accepted financial aid awards and established monthly payment plan option credits) are due by the payment due date.
A late fee of $50 may be charged on all student accounts not paid by the due date. You should allow at least 10-14 days for mailing time or pay online in the Student Account Center.
Semester payments for the 2026–27 academic year are due by:
- Fall 2026 semester: August 7, 2026
- Spring 2027 semester: January 8, 2027
The student is ultimately responsible for meeting all payment deadlines. Failure to do so may prevent students from enrolling and participating in course pre-registration. Diplomas and other campus services may also be withheld until the student's account has been settled.
The Financial Responsibility Agreement outlines the student's personal financial responsibility for college charges, e-bills, and correspondence in regards to college debts. Students must review and accept the agreement in SOLAR (the registration system) each semester before registering.

How to Receive Bills & View Online
E-bills are sent to students at their Reed email address while enrolled. Students may designate up to two additional individuals to receive e-bill notifications. Students should discuss with parents, guardians, family members, or other account payers how financial information will be shared before coming to Reed. That conversation should determine who should receive billing notifications and who may have access to the student’s financial records.
The allows students to authorize (or remove) specific individuals to:
- Receive e-bills (limited to two parents/guardians)
- Have online access and discuss the billing account
- Discuss financial aid records
Individuals granted access to view and discuss the tuition account will automatically receive an email within 1-2 business days prompting them to set up their online access to the Student Account Center.
This form must be completed each year to ensure contact information remains current. The Business Office can only send e-bills and release detailed account information, over the phone or in writing, to individuals authorized by the student through this form. This policy complies with FERPA, the US Department of Education’s Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Monthly Billings and Delinquent Accounts
Reed conveys financial information through a periodic statement emailed to the student and their responsible billing party. The business office will email statements around the 10th of each month during the academic year reflecting miscellaneous charges such as library fines, printing, health center charges, and fines for lost keys. Payment of the total amount is due within 30 days.
Students and alumni with a delinquent account will not be allowed to register for classes and may have their library, printing, and other privileges suspended. Unpaid balances may be turned over to a collection agency. If this occurs, the student is responsible for all costs and attorney fees incurred in the collection process.
All students accept the Financial Responsibility Agreement each semester as part of the registration process. The agreement outlines the student’s financial obligations, including responsibility for charges, payment deadlines, and collection-related costs. Please refer to the Financial Responsibility Agreement for full details.
