International Student Orientation: Important Information

Dear student,

Greetings from sunny Portland! We are so excited to welcome you to the international student community at Reed. 

We are busy finalizing International Student Orientation (ISO) and preparing for what we aim to be a fun and informative several days. The information below will help you prepare for your arrival.

ISO Pre-Arrival Module

If you are attending Reed on an F-1 or J-1 visa, you must complete a pre-arrival Orientation module through the Homebase platform. If you haven’t already, please  to get started. The module will cover essential information related to your visa status in the U.S. Please complete the module at your convenience but prior to arriving on campus in August. 

Arriving on Campus

If you have not already done so, please make your travel arrangements and  to arrive on campus on August 21. Due to campus staffing capacity, this is the earliest that you will be able to move into your residence hall. A number of . Contact us if you need assistance with a place to stay before August 21.

International Friendship Program

If you opted in to being matched with a local host from the , expect to receive their contact information by the end of July. You should reach out to your IFP host family before departing for Portland, and you may want to ask if they are available to meet you at the airport and bring you to campus. They are eager to meet you and support your arrival to Reed! 

InterConnect Mentors

Watch for an email soon from your InterConnect Mentor. The InterConnect program seeks to provide support for students as they transition to Reed and the U.S. Your mentor (a returning student) will contact you over the summer, greet you once you arrive on campus for International Student Orientation, and guide you throughout the program. Additionally, this person will serve as a resource for you throughout your first semester at Reed.
