Richard Coovert ’52
Richard Coovert β52, July 21, 2011, in Portland. Richard earned his BA from Reed in physics, writing the thesis βThe Construction of a Bent Crystal X-Ray Spectrograph.β He went on to get a PhD from the University of Illinois and worked as a research physicist at Tektronix. He became chief scientist for Planar Systems, retiring in 1997. Richard also served in the navy and enjoyed recreational boating.
